La Fornace is a structure that was built in the early 1900s and operated several times using stones found nearby to transform them into lime. It was used in particular to make the binder for the mortars and concretes needed for the construction and painting of the nearby ‘Palace Hotel des Dolomites’. There were many structures similar to this one in our country and, as there was no cement at the time, their usefulness can be understood.
