La Lioda is a small cooperative society, founded in 2008 to pursue a dream: that of recovering and keeping alive the ancient knowledge on the use of medicinal plants. It chose the symbol of the lioda, a word from the Cadore dialect used to indicate the sort of ‘sledge‘ used for agricultural and forest transport. The lioda, which, depending on the area is also called loda, liosa, ridola, etc. in the province, evokes precisely the simple work and traditions of our Alps. La Lioda tries to do things with the utmost care and dedication, while being aware that we always have a lot to learn, in this daily commitment to work and research. They are mainly involved in the collection and processing of local medicinal plants: mainly wild plants, as well as a few cultivated ones. The harvesting areas are those in and around Cadore, where nature still manifests itself in its most beautiful expression. The plants they grow, such as marigold, mountain savory, hyssop, sage, marshmallow, peppermint, blackcurrant, etc., are not treated because they follow natural cultivation methods and do not use pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. The Cooperative produces dried herbs for herbal teas or, from plants in their fresh state, juices, mother tinctures, gemmoderivatives, syrups, oleolites, ointments, essential oils and natural cosmetics. Traditional processing methods, respectful of plants, are followed in the preparation of the preparations to obtain products that retain their most intimate properties.
