tHE PATH OF SOUNDS
1 HOUR
Caralte di Cadore
With stroller
“Once upon a time in a forest in Cadore, there was a village of lumberjacks and sawmills”…… It is the beginning of a story, for those who walk along this path, the beginning of a new adventure!
A path that will let young and old discover the sounds of the forest and the Val Montina.
You arrive in Caralte and follow the signs for the sports facilities to the car park where you leave your car. A little further on, you will find yourself in front of the giant book with the beginning of the story ‘The Sounds of the Forest’ from where the path begins, and on the left you will see the children’s playground.
The path is a gently sloping asphalt road and along the way there are life-size wooden sculptures of animals, with the special feature that approaching or walking past them activates the reproduction of the animal’s cry.
Chronicles narrate that Queen Margherita of Savoy loved to walk along this path, so much so that the ‘Sass della Regina’ can be found towards the end. A boulder in the shape of a stone throne where the queen loved to stop for conversation.
Once you have finished the section with the animal sculptures, you can continue along the same path, which will become a dirt road, still downhill, but with a steeper incline. You will reach an almost level stretch, then begin a steep climb, until you reach the magnificent Tibetan bridge in Val Montina, a wild and little-visited valley that connects the two banks of the Valmontina stream.
Along the approximately 3 km route, one way only, there are several areas equipped with benches and tables, where you can take a break or have a nice picnic. The path is also passable with a trekking buggy.
