The delightful hut has almost the original structure intact. It is run by the Ossi family, who with a touch of whimsy make everything special, including the home cooking, which can be described as simple but favours fresh ingredients. It is the meeting point of the Alte Vie delle Dolomiti n. 3, 4 and 5 and a support point for the ascent to Sorapiss, Antelao, Cima Bel Prà and Torre dei Sabbioni. From the refuge, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the imposing northern slope of Antelao. It was built by the Venice Section of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club), renovated in 1908, enlarged and modernised between 1992 and 1995. Its first unforgettable custodian for almost fifty years was Angelo del Favero “Aucel” of San Vito di Cadore.
From San Vito di Cadore, drive to the car park next to the Parco Neve Sole of the San Vito Ski Area. From there, it takes a few minutes to reach the Sun Bar hut where the trail begins. Following the forest road, you first reach the Scotter Refuge and then continue along path no. 226 to the San Marco Refuge. From here you can decide to walk another hour and a half to Forcella Grande, at an altitude of 2255 metres, or to Forcella Piccola at an altitude of 2120 metres.
