MUSEO DELLA STORIA NATURALE

Via Roma 74, Pro Loco Borca di Cadore

The ‘Maestra Olimpia Perini’ Natural History Museum is located in Borca di Cadore, next to the headquarters of the local Pro Loco. Opened in 1984, it was set up with the patronage of the Veneto Region and technical, scientific and administrative coordination by the staff of the Montebelluna Civic Museum.

Inside are specimens of local mammals and birds, insects and minerals from the area.

The Museo di Storia Naturale Maestra Olimpia Perini (Museum of Natural History Maestra Olimpia Perini), was created following extensive research and cataloguing work by a group of enthusiasts from Borca di Cadore, including the primary school teacher Olimpia Perini, to whom the museum is dedicated, who worked to collect information and artefacts.

The rooms of the museum thus house numerous collections of insects, viperids, birds, lepidopterans, as well as evidence on the geology of the Dolomites.
